US markets started the week as a continuation of Friday's rally but gave up gains to finish the day with Dow and S&P closing in red while Nasdaq closing the day in mild green. The optimism to pick up beaten down stocks on Nasdaq did exist but perhaps the conviction was lost as the attention turned from past week's news to the main events of this week that are due mostly in the second half. Most notable being the CPI numbers that come out on Thursday. This will show the state of inflation in the US economy. Federal Reserve chairman is expected to speak this week and then we have the big banks quarterly results on Friday. So, interesting week ahead.
