US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi touched down in Taiwan and ended the speculation about whether or not she would visit Taiwan after US-China tensions rose on this subject. There is speculation over how would China respond and there were military exercises in and around Taiwan as a result. Taiwan is so critical to international semiconductor market that any instability in that region could bring the semiconductor shortage to a whole new level. It will be interesting to see how US-Taiwan solidarity balances moves from hawkish China. This development and comments from some Federal Reserve officials about their focus to curb inflation took all major US indices in red. I think AMD reports today so it will be interesting to see how semis perform tomorrow.
