Commerce Department released data that showed that retail sales increased more than estimated in September suggesting the strength in consumer spending. This data point is perhaps adding to the difficulty in taming inflation. Treasury yields climbed. There was another article about more AI-chip sales restrictions that is affecting AI-specific chip stocks. Earnings season so far seems to be showing resilience and all three major US indices are in the green this morning (PST).
